In 1995, we began development of our signature community information system that measures Social Assets and Vulnerabilities Indicators (SAVI) for Central Indiana. SAVI empowers users with GIS-enabled local data about social, economic, and physical conditions. It summarizes data into community profiles, allowing users to view and analyze detailed data in interactive maps, charts, and tables. It can enhance the capacity of residents to make positive community change.
SAVI provides more than 10,000 indicators about 9 geographic units, from census tracks and ZIP Codes to school districts, and on 11 Central Indiana counties. In addition, SAVI contains information on over 20,000 community assets. Data are available from 1988 on counties, neighborhoods, and census tracts, among other geographies, as well as on non-profit and community-based organizations and programs.
How can SAVI help you?
- Assessing needs
- Planning and evaluating programs
- Identifying collaborators
- Supporting grant applications
- Strategic planning
- Visualizing patterns and trends
